Configuration of Connecting Components

The cylindrical bore and outside surfaces of the clamping set must be completely covered by the connecting components.

Manufacturing tolerance of the hub bore: H7 (H6 for stringent concentricity requirements, e.g. in gears).

Manufacturing tolerance of the shaft: h5 (max. h6).

The shaft and bore must be cylindrically machined with a mean peak-tovalley heigh of
Rz = 2,5...6,3 microns.

To ensure that the stress exerted on the hub or housing bore remains within the elastic range, we recommend the following minimum wall thickness:

  • C 45 steel                               = 0,6x(d2-d1)

  • aluminium-
    alloys                                      = 1,0x(d2-d1)
    Minimum strength F 38
    Only permissible when used as a
    connecting element. Not suitable
    in case of high alternating tension
    and compression stress.

  • grey cast iron GG25             = 1,0x(d2-d1)
    (shrinkage free cast)

Precise calculation of occuring housing tension levels is only possible within limits due to the complexity of different applications. In critical cases, we recommend executing a clamping test under operating conditions.
