The easy-to-produce surrounding parts can be designed with the usual ISO tolerance. The narrow guiding tolerance required can be optimally adjusted during assembly. This takes account of small geometric errors in the surrounding parts as well as any operational influences, such as higher temperatures that occur – and the play can be easily adjusted at a later stage.

Spieth round, linear guiding elements are the first choice in mechanical engineering and fixture construction, when the benefits of plain bearing guidance, e.g. high attenuation, are to be used and a minimal guiding tolerance is required – for example, on guiding racks, round saddle slideways, tailstock sleeves, press slides, etc. Simultaneous rotary movements are also possible in addition to linear movements. However, due to the constraints imposed by lubrication technology, pure rotation such as that used for sliding bearings is not permitted. High acceleration values are possible, as long as an adequate supply of lubrication is ensured.
Series FAK-FAL guide bushings are round linear guiding and clamping elements for precise sleeve or column guidance in applications where the sleeve/column also has to be clamped precisely and centrally in any position. They are used, for example, with sleeves on machine tools where absolutely zero play is required when the tool is at a standstill after the approach or feed movement. The sequence of clamping and release can be repeated as often as required.
